Our Kitchen from the '80s is History!!!

The kitchen is done and in record time!  Demo began on September 28th and our kitchen was functional again by October 23rd, LESS THAN 4 WEEKS LATER!!!  From October 23rd to November 6th our backsplash and pantry shelves were installed, and our built-in bench was constructed (we had a few other things done during these two weeks, but not in the kitchen).  Now all that remains are some very minor finishing touches.  WOW!!!  Kudos to our General Contractor, Tom, for getting our kitchen done quickly and with minimal disruption to our daily routine.  (He's now moved on to the Master Bathroom expansion...YAY!)

And what about that amazing 12" x 24" tile Tom installed?  The tile extends from the kitchen into the family room and sunroom, as well as the utility room, bathroom, and pantry.  It was a pain to lay, but it's GORGEOUS!!!

Note for anyone who is wondering where we got our cabinets and bench from: Tom built our amazing built-in bench with storage himself.  Our cabinets and granite countertops were purchased through and installed by Reico (this was coordinated by Tom...he'd worked with the company on several other homes).  Reico was so easy to work with, super responsive, and kept on schedule.  I couldn't be happier with the quality of their cabinets and countertops or their installation.

The hallway bathroom came together so beautifully.  I can't wait to move on to our next project (we're not sure what it will be yet)!  Stay tuned...

After noting how red the floor turned out in all the pictures, I tried to get a more accurate picture.  This turned out to be much harder than expected.  The real floor has a lot of green in it, but the green doesn't show up well in the photos. The closest I could get was this...

It's Not The Ugly House on the Block Anymore!!!

Here are pictures of the new and improved exterior of our house.  Yesterday we finished replacing just about everything on the outside of our home.  Our contractor did an AMAZING job turning our renderings into reality.  What do you think?

We Finally Have Our Nursery!!!

Goodness it's been a while.  It's been over 2 years since my last post.  To be honest, life has been INSANE!  I won't even go into all the changes in our lives.  After all, this blog is about our home, not our lives.  But let it suffice to say that we've had little time to work on our home, and even less time to blog about the work we've done on our home.  LOL
